Which I guess is fine if someone read the previous books, and therefore cares about these characters. What I thought was the most elegant separation from the previous series was completely undone here and characters from there owned this book, to the point that Ronan and Reyna had about 5 chapters out of 32 for themselves. I feel like this book was a mess in the sense that it had way too many players for such few pages and the point just got lost somewhere. In all honesty, I can’t decide if I read this at the wrong time/with not the right headspace or what. They were the only reason I kept skimming as the other characters were either forgettable or a little irritating.Īs always, a big thank you to HarperCollins and Netgalley for the ARC.Ĭourt of Death and Dreams (The Forsaken #3) by Meg Anne I really liked Ina and Skedi as characters, and their whole plot line though. For a long while I felt like I was reading in Elvish or studying for an exam, until it switched around midway, but by that time I was skimming the chapters. The plot itself and the portrayal of the gods was good and the reason I still gave this 3 stars, the writing/prose on the other hand made it a really painful experience for me. I really wanted to love this and was so excited when I got approved for the ARC (as it was one of my anticipated releases), but I was struggling a lot with this. Unfortunately, I fell with the minority who didn’t enjoy this story as much as the others. Genres: adult, epic fantasy, adventure, queer
